Educational YouTube Channels

The world of science and education in general can be a wonderful place, if you know where to look of course. Thankfully due to the ever-growing field of technology we can quickly access information previous generations would have had to search meticulously for hours. What follows contains 3 YouTube channels which can benefit everyone by further advancing the scope of our knowledge. Let's begin with the channel that got me interested in watching educational videos in the first place...

Periodic Videos! The only reason I still manage to have some chemical knowledge is thanks to this channel. They recently released a video on the New Horizons mission to get to Pluto by using the element Plutonium, or rather the electricity generated by the heat generated by the slow decay of Plutonium 238. Give the video a watch and enjoy the wonderful world of chemistry.

MinutePhysics is home to a series of short and to the point drawings of physical topics aimed to make the viewer understand the core principles involved in under or around a minute. The number one complaint of physics lessons is that they can be extremely boring and uninteresting to both teach and learn in a classroom environment, but MinutePhysics aims to alleviate some of the dullness of learning environment by making fun and easy to understand videos on popular topics. A personal favorite video is their video on whether you should walk or run out of the rain to get to a dry shelter. Have a look, it might become your favorite video too!

Lastly I would like to roundup with a channel I found recently called SciShow, which is all about sharing information on interesting scientific news, history, and tidbits. To give you a taste of their material I would recommend their video on sleeping and why we need it. Most of us probably don't get enough sleep even though sleeping is one of the most sought after feelings at the end of a long day. Find out what science has uncovered about sleeping by watching the video.
